정의
알렉산더(Alexander)는 크림과 코코아 리큐르가 들어간 칵테일로 달달한 식후주이다.[1]
유래
Alexander는 영국 에드워드7세의 왕비인 알렉산드라에서 유래된 이름이다. 1863년, 에드워드7세가 덴마아크왕의 장녀인 알렉산드라와 결혼했을 때, 에드워드7세에게 헌상된 것이 바로 이 칵테일이다.[2]
영화 술과 장미의 나날에서 주인공 잭 레몬이 술을 마시지 못하는 아내에게 권하는 칵테일이 Alexander이다. 이 칵테일을 계기로 아내는 알콜중독에 빠져 가족이 붕괴되어 간다. 만화 바텐더에서는 발렌타인데이에 어울리는 칵테일로 소개하며, 살구맛 리큐르인 아말렛 디사로노를 초콜릿, 생크림과 섞어 만든다.
조주법
가장 일반적인 Alexander 제조법은 Brandy Alexander이다. 진 대신 깔루아 같은 커피 리큐르를 사용하면 Coffee Alexander, 크림 데 카카오 대신 블루 큐라소를 사용하면 blue Alexander가 된다.[3] IBA에서 제공하는 공식 제조법에서는 브랜디 대신에 코냑을 사용한다.

조주법
- 브랜디와 크림 데 카카오, 생크림을 셰이커에 넣고 흔든다. 칵테일 잔에 부은 뒤 육두구 가루를 살짝 뿌려 장식한다.
