| 이 집은 독립운동가인 신영호(1902~1947) 선생의 생가로, 충청도 양반가의 전형이라고 할 집이다.
정면 5칸, 측면 4칸의 ㄱ자 팔작 지붕집의 안채이다. 본래 사랑채와 곳간채, 마고 등 부속건물이 있었으나, 한말에 신정식이 살았을 때에 의병의 숙식을 제공했다는 이유로 일본군에 의해 소실되고 안채만이 남아 있다. 이집은 일제시대 민족 교육의 목적으로 창설된 대활단의 본거지 이기도 하였다. |

Built in 1881, this house shows the typical architectural style of aristocratic residences in the Chungcheong-do area. Originally, there was a men’s quarters, as well as auxiliary structures such as a storehouse and a stable. However, because Sin’s father provided accommodation for the Korean civilian army, these buildings were destroyed by Japanese soldiers. Now, only the women’s quarters remains. |
